General Liability Certificates of Insurance Webinar
Wednesday, October 16, 2024 4:00:00 PM UTC - 7:00:00 PM UTC
We all know that a Certificate of Insurance is not a contract; it doesn’t infer any rights or extend or alter the coverage provided by the policy, or does it? Can information you provide on a Certificate of Insurance change the terms of an insurance policy? What are the ramifications if that happens? We’ll talk about the Supreme Court decision that should inform how we approach the completion of a COI.

We’ll also review some basics including what is a Certificate of Insurance meant to be, why they are requested, and what information they really provide the certificate holder. We’ll discuss how we protect ourselves in this process.

Liability Certificates of Insurances are directly intertwined with additional insured endorsements. We’ll look at some specific ISO Additional Insured endorsements related to construction contracts and see how the wording in the endorsements should affect the way we handle liability certificates of insurance.

Topics Include:
• What is a Certificate of Insurance meant to be?
• Why are Certificates requested?
• What do they really tell the certificate holder?
• Lessons to be learned from court cases
• Specific examples of problematic requests from insureds
• Specific ISO AI endorsements and suggestions on how to complete the COI
